Program: Construction Spending, Labor, and Materials Outlook for 2026—The construction industry enters 2026 with solid demand in several key sectors, but also heightened uncertainty around costs, financing, and policy. This session will provide a clear, data-driven look at national economic trends, labor market dynamics, material cost pressures, and the changing tariff landscape. We’ll also highlight developments specific to the Midwest and Nebraska region, giving you timely insights to help guide bidding, planning, and workforce strategy in the year ahead.
Presenter: Macrina Wilkins, Sr. Research Analyst, AGC of America. She serves as a speaker within the industry, sharing her knowledge on trends in the labor, spending and material markets. Her work has been published in trade magazines and industry reports focusing on topics related to economic trends impacting contractors.
Program: Building Cost Trends—Eric will discuss trends in the cost of inputs to the construction industry including building material, labor and lots.
Presenter: Dr. Eric Thompson, Department Chair, K.H. Nelson College Professor of Economics and the Director of the Bureau of Business Research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Eric’s research examines the sources and consequences of state and local economic growth and the economics of infrastructure.
