syNErgy Project Grant

The syNERrgy Project is funded through a $4.8 million grant from the US Department of Labor to develop employment opportunities and create training curriculum for the Nebraska's Renewable Energy sector, specifically for wind, bio-fuels, and Green Building technologies. This grant, officially awarded in February 2010 is a three-year grant and grant funds will expire in January 2013. The original grant application required the support and involvement of many organizations, including industry sector representatives. The AGC Nebraska Building Chapter was one of the signatories to the grant application representing the commercial construction industry. Due to this relationship the Nebraska Building Chapter is involved in the project at all levels.

The purpose of the project is the creation of the Nebraska State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) to align the Governor's Workforce Vision with an educated workforce skilled in the renewable energy production, biofuels, and energy efficient building industries. The overall purpose of the SESP is to support and grow Nebraska's "green" economy resulting in jobs for our citizens.
