MISSION STATEMENT
We are an association of building construction professionals dedicated to represent the best interest of the construction industry through the promotion of skills, integrity and responsibility.
VISION STATEMENT
A professional organization that preserves the core values of skills, integrity and responsibility in the profession and industry, while stimulating, encouraging and supporting progress and innovation in the industry.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE for 2010-11 will be membership development, retention and recruitment.
GOALS OF THE ASSOCIATION
- ADVOCACY. Unify the industry into a cohesive group that speaks with a single voice on issues affecting commercial building construction. The Association will create legislative and other coalitions to present our voice and views to the state government and other groups that affect the well-being of the industry.
- PROVIDE RELEVANT BENEFITS, SERVICES AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THAT ENABLE MEMBER FIRMS TO GROW AND HAVE LONG TERM SUCCESS. Provide and collaborate on education, monitor industry trends, safety programs and resources that directly help the business operations of our members.
- WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. Build a stable professional and craft workforce for the benefit of member firms and the industry. Become the conduit for the industry to develop tomorrow's workforce.
- MARKETING AND VISIBILITY; POSITION THE CHAPTER AS AN ENTITY OF INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE. Brand the image of what membership in the AGC represents; skills, integrity and responsibility within the profession and industry.
- MAXIMIZE MEMBERSHIP GROWTH AND LOYALTY. Maintain a 90% annual retention rate of existing members and increase new membership by 10% each year.
PLAN OF WORK
The Building Chapter will focus its activities and resources in the following ways during the next two years to reach the five goals and strategic initiative.
ADVOCACY
Top Priority — Lobby at the state level on behalf of the commercial building construction industry by continuing to have a coordinated, collaborative influential presence at the Unicameral and with State Agencies.
2nd Priority — Develop and implement activities to become proactive in initiating legislation based on member input.
Important — Continue the channel of communication and member involvement in the legislative process.
Important — Continue relationship building with related industry associates to strength the impact of the construction industry.
PROVIDE RELEVANT BENEFITS, SERVICES AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNTITES
Top Priority — Continue to identify, coordinate and provide training opportunities that are cost effective and time efficient for participants.
Top Priority — Plan minimum of three regional membership meetings per year between November and April in each of the five regions in the state.
Important — Continue to explore and implement ways to open communication across the industry between design and construction entities.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Top Priority — Continue to strengthen our support of the Student AGC Chapters in terms of funding and professional development activities. Explore possibility of sixth chapter at Wayne State College.
2nd Priority — Develop and implement a Construction Career Awareness program to initially target young students and their parents. Top activity to continue will be the Nebraska State Fair Partnership.
MARKETING AND VISIBILITY
Top Priority — Develop and implement a marketing plan that positions and brands the membership as "premier construction professionals" in the industry, bringing skills, integrity and responsibility to every project.
Top Priority – Develop and implement a cooperative advertising program, which will include a marketing template for General Contractor members. This program will be funded from existing cash reserves and will be a value added benefit of membership.
MAXIMIZE MEMBERSHIP GROWTH AND LOYALTY
Top Priority — Shift the direction of the Membership Development Committee from designing a plan to implementation of plan. Increase member involvement in the entire process.
Top Priority — Create taskforce to develop a draft for a statewide project award program, using UN Construction Management staff as members and judges. Also, create a taskforce to identify project(s) to be carried out by a revitalized “Associates Group”. The initial taskforce members will be the four Associate Board Members.
