Abridged Mission and Vision Statement for the Nebraska Building Chapter:
The mission statement of the AGC-NE Building Chapter is to provide a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members with the goal that the building construction industry flourishes at the local, state and national level. The vision of the Chapter is to continue to evolve to meet the needs and provide the services members need to stay profitable and viable in the state.
Committee Goal/Objective:
To create a channel of membership involvement to identify and support program and services to meet the safety and health needs of the membership. A second objective of the committee will be to advocate on behalf of the construction industry with federal and state health and safety regulatory agencies.
Committee Membership:
The committee chair or co-chairs will be appointed by the President of the Chapter Board of Directors. The committee chair or co-chairs will be reappointed on an annual basis if all parties are in agreement.
The membership of the committee will be on a voluntary basis, but ideally should provide equal representation of all members across the state. The Executive Director will be a standing member of the committee. The committee chair or an appointed committee member will present the recommendations of the committee to the Board on an as needed basis.
Functions, Timeline and Responsibilities:
The committee will be responsible for the following:
- Study and research changes in safety rules, regulations and standards—provide updates to membership as needed.
- Review and try out new safety products and safety/health training products and make recommendations useful to members.
- Host and lead periodic “roundtable discussions” with other interested safety professionals from the membership.
- Maintain liaison relationship between Building Chapter and local OSHA office.
- Study, report, and inform members on related topics such as crime prevention, substance abuse education, and EPA health-related regulations, etc.
- Recommend and help implement new member services and products in the health and safety area.
- Identify ways to bring safety awareness/training to Student Chapters.
