Abridged Mission and Vision Statement for the Nebraska Building Chapter:
The mission statement of the AGC-NE Building Chapter is to provide a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members with the goal that the building construction industry flourishes at the local, state and national level. The vision of the Chapter is to continue to evolve to meet the needs and provide the services members need to stay profitable and viable in the state.

Committee Goal/Objective:
To create a channel of membership involvement to identify and support issues of concern to the building construction industry; support the Chapter’s collaborative, influential presence at the unicameral in all areas affecting the construction industry; and provide financial support for the candidates and elected representatives that support the construction industry’s issues.

Membership:
The committee chair will be appointed by the President of the Chapter Board of Directors. The committee chair will be reappointed on an annual basis if all parties are in agreement.

The membership of the committee will be on a voluntary basis, but ideally should provide equal representation for all members across the state. The Executive Director will be a standing member of the committee. The committee chair will present the recommendations of the committee to the Executive Committee of the Board on an as needed basis. The Committee Chair and the Executive Director will each have one vote, along with one collective vote from the Board’s Executive Committee in making the final Legislative issue support decisions.

Functions, Time line and Responsibilities:

  1. The geographical regions of the committee will be: Region 1, the Panhandle area; Region 2, the Central area; Region 3, the Northeast area; Region 4, the Lincoln metro area; and Region 5, the Omaha metro area.
  2. The committee will organize for the year each July. The committee will prepare a list of recommended PAC donations to be presented to the PAC Executive Committee. The PAC Executive Committee, along with the Legislative Committee Chair and ED will make the final decision to donate to individual campaigns. The ED will arrange with local members to present the check to candidates.
  3. The Committee will conduct an issues forum at the Fall Conference in October. The purpose will be to get input from the members to plan the chapter’s lobbying efforts and strategy for the next session.
  4. Each year, between Election Day and early December, the Committee will host a Legislative Affairs meeting in each region. The purpose of the meeting will be to:
  • Provide a “meet and greet” between members and the State Senators from that region.
  • Review with members the communication methods the Chapter will use during the session; i.e. E-Updates, Member’s Only Section of website, resources available etc.
  • The ED will provide an overview of what is expected to happen in the next session.
  • Members will have the opportunity to discuss issues and concerns with the Senators in attendance.
  1. Communicate on a daily or as needed basis with membership via the Member’s Only Section of the website. Utilize the Legislative Committee when needed for direct contact with elected officials.
  2. Host an event for members to meet with the State Senators during the Legislative Session each year. This will be held in Lincoln.
  3. The ED, with the assistance of the committee members will provide a profile of primary candidates prior to the May election. This information will be distributed via the Member’s Only Section of the Website. The ED and the committee will attempt to supply a more detailed profile and recommendations by early July on the final candidates.
