Build Nebraska Awards
This award showcases and promotes a greater appreciation of the work our member firms produce.  Awards will be given in five categories by size and type of job.  All General Contractor member firms are eligible to enter.

Top ten reasons why you should nominate a project for a Build Nebraska Award:

  1. Image - Showcase your work and our industry.
  2. Credibility - Your projects and the work of your teams are very impressive.
  3. Morale - Share the pride of building with your entire team.
  4. Marketing - Award recognition helps create an impressive portfolio.
  5. Honor - This is a prestigious award and you are judged the best by your peers.
  6. Exposure - All nominated projects are recognized during the award ceremony, on our website and in our chapter newsletter.
  7. Odds - A select, but limited, number of projects are nominated annually.
  8. Categories - There are five! Five diverse areas of excellence for all of our member firms.
  9. Support - Need help? Call Jean or Vicki! We are here to help. Please, don't wait until the last minute.
  10. Convenience - The format follows AGCA guidelines so it's easy to enter the Build America Award competition as well.

Now is the time to start planning your company’s entries into the 2011 competition.  Projects completed in 2009, 2010 or 2011 are eligible for the 2011 awards.  You must submit an “Intent to Enter” form by September 2, and the completed entry forms are due September 30, 2011.  The Award Winners will be announced at Fall Conference on November 3, 2011.

Visit the Build Nebraska Award link for all the program details and information.

AGC SCC STUDENT CHAPTER STUDENT SUMMER ACTIVITY
On July 26, the Milford Campus-SCC Student Chapter conducted a Construction Learning Workshop for a group young children at the Lincoln Children’s Museum.  The activities for the morning workshop included the children building step stools; forming, mixing and troweling 18” patio squares of concrete; building and load testing a structural beam; and a sidewalk tour of a downtown construction site.  It seems the “big kids” had as much fun as the “little kids”!  Note: the SCC Chapter will be hosting the same activities at the AGC Construction Learning Center at the Lancaster County Super Fair on August 11,12 & 13.
