KidStructure at Lauritzen Gardens

KidStructureImaginative KidStructure exhibit to run May 17 through October 5, 2008 - A Project of the Lauritzen Gardens Guild.

Never before has a garden visit spurred such whimsy, magic and fascination for children. KidStructure, an outdoor exhibit of structures custom-designed by area AIA Omaha architects and contractors, will ignite the imagination of all who experience these creative structures "kidstructed" for the young and young-at-heart.

KidStructure stretches the definition of traditional "playhouse" design. These unique and adventurous structures will encourage interactive learning, garden exploration and, most importantly, imagination!

The Guild extends a special thanks to the American Institute of Architects, Nebraska and Iowa Chapters, and the Association of General Contractors, Nebraska Building Chapter for their endorsement and participation in this fantastic exhibit. Check out animated advertisement to appear of KETV. Pictured below are architectural designs for two of the 12 KidStructures: "Bovillion" (left) and "seed" (right).

LEED Panel Presentations in Omaha

The USGBC Flatwater Chapter will be hosting a mid-day panel presentation on LEED for Existing Builders in Omaha at the Scotts Conference Center on Wednesday, May 14.

Regional Member Meetings

The Chapter has now completed this season's Regional Meetings. During the summer months planning will be underway for next season. The goal of the Regional Meetings is to provide relevant and worthwhile educational programs, along with a networking opportunity for members and prospective members in our chapter.

The next season will run between the months of November 2008 - April 2009. There will be three meetings scheduled for each region. The Regional Meetings are held in Scottsbluff, Norfolk, Kearny and Omaha.

The Omaha meetings could be repeated in Lincoln if there is enough interest to split Omaha and Lincoln into two separate regions.

Let me know your thoughts.
