LEED-AP Test Prep Update

The Building Chapter has joined forces with the AGC of Colorado, AGC of New Hampshire and the Sustainable Investment Group to bring you a test prep course that will be delivered live and online via Webex.com.  The Colorado and New Hampshire Chapter members have been using this online course with great success for the past year.  This will be a great opportunity for preparing for the first tier LEED-Green Professional accreditation.

Click here for course registration/details and here for a course outline.  Course dates are December 2,9,16 and 23rd.  Total cost is $250.00.  Please call Jean if you have questions.

LEED Professional Credentials-Update

As you all know the LEED-Accredited Professional credential has changed this year.  The changes include three levels of professional credentials with the first level now being LEED-Green Associate. Click here to view a brief overview provided by Thomas Taylor, a presenter at an AGCA Training and HR Conference.

FYI: Members with LEED-AP status will be happy to know that AGC will be approved soon by the Green Building Certification Institute to offer courses that meet the CEU requirements.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) Education Program

The day when BIM will be standard practice on construction job sites is coming.  Studies show that BIM use among project owners, designers, and contractors has steadily increased and is projected to become even more widespread in the years ahead.  The AGC BIM Education Program is being developed in conjunction with leading BIM practitioners, technology firms and educators and is designed to successfully educate design and construction professionals at all experience levels on a range of topics they would encounter implementing and using BIM.

This winter the Nebraska Building Chapter and AIA-Nebraska are co-sponsoring the first two courses in the planned six course curriculum.  BIM 101 and BIM Technology will be offered in January and February in Omaha.  To view course outlines, who should attend, all other details and registration forms, click here for BIM 101 and click here for BIM Technology.

Another New Discount From National Purchasing Partners

NPP is very excited to announce the launching early this week of the newest addition to our discount offers - Staples Advantage!

NPP has put a great deal of energy into getting this discount and infrastructure for the Staples Advantage discount to it's current level. Please note NPP did a cost analysis for four of AGC Utah's board members before launching to get a read on where the discount pricing fell.  Here are the findings: Two companies previously purchased with a local office supply company and NPP’s Staples Advantage pricing saved them 22.99%, one company was using Office Depot and from a small sample NPP saved them 25% and lastly, the last company is among the top 10 largest construction companies in the nation (currently using Staples on their own customized National discount) and the Staples Advantage pricing broke even with their current pricing.  Look for all the information and how to access the discount on the home page of the Building Chapter’s website.

To take advantage of the NPP discounts you must first register with NPP (www.mynpp.com).  Your AGC Building Chapter membership will be confirmed  and then you will be ready to save!

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE DISCOUNTS:  VERIZON WIRELESS (22% DISCOUNT), FEDEX (AS MUCH AS 50% ON SELECTED PRODUCTS) AND NOW STAPLES (22% AVERAGE SAVINGS).

Prime Time Television Ads Supported By AGCA

As you may have noticed,  AGCA has been participating in an advertising campaign with the US Chamber of Commerce on health care.  A new ad buy has been ordered that will commence on Monday and run through December 2.  You will likely see these ads which include the AGC logo (amongst other groups).  The message is that we cannot afford the health care bill.  They have been running this past week on NBC and ABC in the 9-10:00pm slot.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WISHES TO YOU ALL!
