Nebraska Legislative Updaterized Membership Invoices

Yesterday, January 21st, was the last day for bill introduction by the Senators.  The bills of interest to the construction industry are listed by bill number, along with a short one-line summary in the Legislative Update section of website.  http://www.agcnebuilders.com/legisupdate.shtml

 

Building Chapter Legislative Committee

reviewed the bills of interest during a conference call this morning.  The committee determined the direction of the Chapter’s lobbying effort for the session.  To review the bill priorities, our position and a summary of each bill go to the Member’s Only Section of the website-Legislative Alert.  Click here

Legislative Forum March 3rd

Plan to attend this year’s AGC, AIA, ACEC Joint Industry Council’s Legislative Forum and Luncheon.  Governor Heineman will be one of the speakers at the morning session and all the State Senators are invited to the luncheon.  All the information will be out soon, but for now SAVE THE DATE! 

 

Nebraska Design And Construction Industry Council (NDCIC)

The Nebraska Design and Counstruction Industry Council (NDCIC) is the new long name of our joint industry council between AIA-Nebraska, American Council of Engineering Firms-Nebraska (ACEC-NE) and the Building Chapter.  This group, which has been functioning for the past two years, replaces the original AGC-AIA Committee.

 

New Study Shows That QBS Saves Government Agencies Money

A member of the NDCIC provided the recent article about a new study that shows that qualification-based selection saves government agencies more money than lowest-bid.  This may be of interest to some of you.  Click here to read.

 

BIM 101

The first course in our BIM training series this winter was a great success this past Wednesday.  There were 33 people registered for the course.  BIM TECHNOLOGY is the next course, which is a two-day course to be held on February 25/26. Click here for information and to register.  (Note the BIM 101 is NOT a pre-requisite for TECH)
