Legislative Update

Yesterday was the last day of bill introduction for this session.  Click here to view the bills that have a direct impact on the building construction industry.  There are a few new “ideas” along with the reappearance of several of our past “bills of concern”.  The first hearings of these bills start today.  Next week I will include the details for each of the bills on our list.  It will be posted in the “Members Only” section, so you will need the 2008 username and password to view.  If you have misplaced that information just call the office.  The 2008 username and password will be current until mid-February.  All members paid current on 2009 dues will receive the new ID and password at that time.

Legislative Action in Washington DC

The Employee Free Choice Act and Government Contract Withholding Tax continues to be the high priority on the national AGC agenda.  Please consider voicing your opinion to Nebraska’s delegation.  The following links will take you to AGCA’s Legislative Action Center.

Our representatives in Washington D.C. need to hear from you regarding the Employee Free Choice Act. The vote is going to be happening in the near future. The vote is going to be very close. Please write your representative and senators with your thoughts today.  No excuses!  It is easy to do via the AGCA Legislative Action Center. Click here.

Government Contract Withholding Tax - AGCA’s Advocacy Team is also working to repeal excessive 3% withholdings on Government contracts. Again, you need to voice your opinion with the Nebraska delegation in Washington D.C. Click here.
